A Translation Practice Report Of Kappa

After the reform and opening,Japanese literary translation set off a wave of upsurge,and a large number of excellent translation text appeared.Today,a large number of Chinese translation text appeared on the market.Some famous works even has dozens of translation text.However,it is followed by a large number of rough translation text,it's very grave of mistranslation or omission phenomenon.In this case,people can feel some classic translation is excellent and precious.I wants to find out the gap between my translation and that of famous translators and improve the level of literary translation.This thesis selects the short story Kappa as the translation material,and the total translation is about 25,000 words.Kappa is a late work of ryunosuke Akutagawa,a famous Japanese novelist in the taisho era.It mainly tells the neuropath what one saw and heard in the country of Kappa,and reflects the Japanese society with the social situation in the country of Kappa,which is a work with great repercussions in Japan.Under the guidance of Eugene A.Nida's Functional equivalence theory,this thesis compares the translation of Kappa's translation text by Shao-hua Lin and Jie-ruo Wen,and analyzes it from three aspects: vocabulary,syntax and composition.Through comparative and analysis,first,I find that my Japanese level still need to be improved,because there is a mistranslation phenomenon of in the translation.Secondly,I find that the Chinese level is insufficient,writing is deficient.In addition,different writers have different translation styles in different times.In the future,I will learn from different translators to absorb their experience and improve my translation skills.
