| Bingling Temple,located in Yongjing County,Gansu Province,which is composed of Upper Temple,Lower Temple and grotto.It is one of the most important Buddhist grottoes on the Silk Road.The evolution of Tibetan Buddhist murals in Bingling Temple was closely related to the development of Tibetan Buddhism,the local political background and the development of Chinese painting at that time.Bingling Temple is mainly influenced by the development of Zacha,Gaju and Gru sects,so the mural content is closely related to it.Bingling Temple Grottoes No.3 murals are the most complete cave on Tibetan Buddhist murals of Silk Road in the Ming Dynasty.The murals are divided into Stone Tower murals and four wall murals.There is one Bodhisattva on each side of the East wall of the Stone Tower;the South wall is painted with Manjushi Bodhisattva;the West wall is painted with Water and Moon Kuan-Yin;the North wall is painted with Pusan Bodhisattva.The East wall of the four walls is the entrance of the cave,is mainly the Thousand Buddha and Buddha’s warrior attendant;the South wall has two Buddhist niches,and the murals are mainly composed of Thousand Arms and Thousand eyes Kuan-Yin and several Bodhisattva.The West wall is a positive wall,with the left Amitabha Buddha and the right crown Buddha as the main;the North wall mainly painted the Pharmacist Buddha and Manshu Bodhisattva.And here is the method of reading Bingling Temple Cave No.3 murals content.In terms of color,through the analysis of brightness,pure degree,color comparison,summed up that the color selection is based on the murals color pigment properties,religious needs and the overall effect of the screen to determine the use of color;In terms of composition,the third grotto murals in the overall layout of the picture,using symmetrical and balanced composition form,in the Buddhist story painting using the traditional composition concept of Chinese painting;In the aspect of line,the twist and undulation of the head line in the fresco expresses the character’s charm,the choice of the dress line,the removal and annexation,the close relation,the straight change and so on,which shape the image of the object.It is studied by these three aspects to know about its overall artistic characteristics. |
