The study of the nasal endings in Mandarin Chinese has been widely concerned by scholars, mainly focusing on their evolutionary regularity and causes of variation. However, there are not many researches on the front and back nasal rhymes by using experimental methods, among which there are few experiments on the auditory perception of nasal endings, and there is a lack of comprehensive and systematic research on the auditory pattern.Based on the previous studies, this paper conducts an experimental study on the auditory recognition of nasal endings by using the methods of identification experiment and discrimination experiment to find out the auditory performance of the front and back nasal endings. In addition, this paper also combines the parameter of nasalization to analyze the influence of this acoustic parameter on the auditory resolution of the subjects, and examines the performance between the subject’s hearing sense and the acoustic aspect. In the experiment of natural speech recognition,we analyzed the sub-mixing of the northern Chinese’s perception of the nasal end[-n]and[-η]in Mandarin. The results show that the correct rate of listening to the single-word group is lower than the double-words group, whether in a singular or double-words group, the syllables of the posterior nasal syllables are more likely to appear mixed, and the degree of mixing is expressed as[-η]>[-n];the height of the vowel tongue position is different, the correct rate of the subjects was also different, the degree of miscibility of the subjects is as follows:high vowel(i)>middle vowel(a)>low vowel(a);in the double-words group, the contrast word was in the latter words, the subjects were more likely to have mixed front and back nasal finals;in the gender aspect, the correct rate of the boys is higher than that of the girls. In the synthetic speech audition experiment,we examined the auditory boundary between the front and back nasal endings in Mandarin. The results showed that the overall auditory perception effect of the subjects in the n→ng continuum was better than that of the ng→n continuum;the auditory perception effect of the stimulus/-in/、/-iη/combination was the worst, which was also the worst in the natural speech audition, the view of lowest rate is consistent;the perceptual effect ordering of the subjects under different main vowel conditions in n→ng continuum and ng→n continuum can be expressed as:non-high vowel>high vowel;the gender factor is generally more sensitive to the perception of boys than to girls;the positive and negative aspects of the test interface as a whole are more sensitive to the perception of positive order.Combined with the parameters of nasalization,we found that the weakening and nasalization of the nasal ends had a certain influence on the hearing of the subjects, and the influence on the single character group was greater, which was as follows:the nasalance of the lower vowel+[-n]/[-η]are higher than that of the higher vowel+[-n]/[-η],which is consistent with the hearing rate of the subject, that is after the lower vowels, the nasalance of nasal ends are higher, and the nasal ends are more stable, the hearing rate is also higher. In terms of tone, the falling tone is most likely to be weakened and shedding. The higher nasalance between vowel and nasal ends are,the lower the accuracy rate is,the performance of higher vowel/i/and/y/is more obvious.
