In the 21 st century, smart phones, televisions and other electronic products have become the daily necessities for each family.People's work and life are increasingly inseparable from these screens.Although they bring great convenience to people, their “magic power” also makes many children“stick” on it,which makes parents feel very worried. In view of this social phenomenon,American writer Anya Kamenetz published The Art of Screen Time, hoping it can provide guidelines for parents who are still suffering from such problems. The purpose of the translation is to introduce the research results, concepts and methods of advanced foreign family education, thus providing reference for parents in China. In the process of translation, the author finds that the original text uses a large number of figurative languages, which makes the original text more appealing. If the translation wants to reproduce the vivid image of the original text,it will undoubtedly bring higher challenges to the translator. Therefore, this report takes the translation of figurative language as the research object. It summarizes the translation strategies of the figurative language through case study. This practice report is divided into five chapters. The first chapter introduces the background and significance of the task, and analyzes the contents and characteristics of the text. The second chapter elaborates on translation preparation, translation process and post-translation proofreading. The third chapter dwells on the figurative language and its translation difficulties, with reference to the previous research results on the translation of figurative language. The fourth chapter is case study, which is also the main part of this report.According to the acceptance degree of the figurative language in the target reader, the author takes different translation strategies, that is retention of the image, conversion of the image and abandonment of the image. The fifth chapter summarizes the author's enlightenment in this translation practice.
