On The Chinese Version Of Go Set A Watchman Translated By Zhang Yun From The Perspective Of Eco-translatology

The novel Go Set A Watchman,published in 2015,is Harper Lee's second book in her whole life,and is the sequel of To Kill A Mockingbird.It was translated into Chinese by Zhang Yun in 2017.Both the original novel and Chinese version hit the best-seller list and won wide attention.However,few studies have been conducted about Zhang Yun's translation of Go Set A Watchman.In light of this,the author of the thesis chooses Zhang Yun's translation Go Set A Watchman as research objects,adopting Hu Gengshen 's Eco-translatology as its theoretical foundation.Eco-translatology is an emerging and interdisciplinary theory raised by Prof.Hu Gengshen in 2001.Based on the ideological basis of Darwin's evolution theory,creatively introducing ecology into translation field,eco-translatology regards translation is a process in which the translator adapts to the translational eco-environment in multi-dimensions,and then made adaptive selections accordingly,taking "translator-centeredness" as its core concept.On the basis of Prof.Hu's eco-translatology,the thesis firstly studied the translational eco-environment of Zhang Yun's translation of Go Set A Watchman from three perspectives,the original text,the translator and the target text.Then,it explores how the translator adapts to the translational eco-environment and makes adaptation and selection from multi-dimensions——linguistic dimension,cultural dimension and communicative dimension,so as to achieve the largest degree of holistic adaptation and selection.Meanwhile,due to language and cultural gap between China and America,the translational inappropriateness is existed,which are pointed out for discussion,and reference version of translation are given.The thesis aims to analyze how the translational eco-environment influences the translation process,and verify the applicability of this newly-established theory in translation practice.What's more,it is hoped that it can raise more researchers'attention on the two monumental works of Harper Lee.
