| On September 12,2018,the author provided consecutive interpreting in a meeting for the delegation of Bundaberg Regional Council’s visit to Baile Macadamia Base.The form of this consecutive interpreting was from Chinese to English and vice versa.Overall,the interpreting task went smoothly,yet problems like information loss,misinterpretation and disfluency took place in the course of interpreting.The project report made an analysis of typical cases in this practice activity,which mainly consisted of four chapters.The first chapter is task description,touching upon background and features of the interpreting task.In the second chapter,the author describes the process of this interpreting task,including pre-interpreting preparation and details of pre-interpreting preparation.The third chapter is case study,in which the author analyzes and explores causes such as speakers’ way of expression,noise,terminology and background knowledge leading to difficulties in receiving information and relevant coping measures,as well as problems in interpreting output like information loss,misinterpretation and disfluency and reasons behind them,and comes up with corresponding solutions.In the fourth chapter,the author sums up this interpreting practice and reviews his gains from this practice,in the hope of offering some food for thought for prospective interpreting practitioners,the author included,to improve the quality of interpreting output. |
