The content of the translation report is selected from Chapter 3 of The Role of Global Air Pollution in Aging and Disease: Reading Smoke Signals, which introduces three kinds of gases that cause air pollution, and air pollution leaded aging diseases. In the book, the author proposes that the lifespan of human beings should be shortened by air pollution, and much attention should be payed to environmental protection. The third chapter focuses on the formation and harm of three kinds of smoke, which involves a large number of biological, chemical and medical terminologies. The sentences are rigorous and long;the textual information structure is complete;the logical relationship is compact;the language is objective and normative.Translator uses the third chapter as translation material and Chesterman's translation norm theory as theoretical guidance.According to the professional norms and expectation norms, the translator tries to solve the translation problems on technical terminologies, long sentences and text.Literal translation, zero translation and Chinese-English translation are used to translate the biochemical and medical terminologies in the article.Syntactic linearity, sequence translation and reverse translation are used to translate the long sentences in the text.To deal with the problem of cohesion and coherence, the translator uses lexical connection and referential restoration adjusts the structure and logical relationship of the original information. This translation practice, through the guidance of translation norm theory, tries to enhance the readability, narrow the gap between the target text and the source text, ensure the translation professional and standardize, and achieve a good communication effect. This translation practice has three important points: First, the translator hopes more people can recognize the serious of pollution and pay more attention to environmental protection.Second, this translation practice has tested the translator's ability in translation after 3-year study, making a clear understanding which level is the translator at.Third, through this practice and reflection, the translator tries to explore the features of environmental protection texts and provides a little reference to the translation of this theme.
