Intimacy is one of the human basic needs,which is vital to mental health and adaptation,as well as an important predictor of physical health and mental functioning at any stage of individual's developing process.Previous studies have shown that self-disclosure can promote the generation of intimacy,which is an important predictor to enhance intimate relationship;as a special way of revealing,co-rumination means that both two sides of the interpersonal relationship are excessively discussing the behaviour of themselves.As a new concept in interpersonal relationships,research on co-rumination has received increasing attention from scholars from domestic and abroad.Different from rumination thinking,co-rumination may have negative or positive effects on mental health at the same time.This study explores the link between self-disclosure and intimacy by introducing co-rumination.Study 1 aimd to examine the relationship among self-disclosure,co-rumination and interpersonal intimacy,a package of questionairs including the self-disclosure index,the Chinese version of the co-rumination questionnaire and the actual intimacy scale were used to test 292 college students.The relationship between disclosure,co-rumination and the level of intimacy.Study 2 uses 2(exhibition content: disclosure VS chat)x3(co-rumination manipulation: co-rumination VS distraction VS problem solving)design of the participants,through the laboratory situation to manipulate the two,to further investigate the effects of self-disclosure on intimate relationships and the role of co-rumination.The main findings are as follows:(1)Self-disclosure,co-rumination and intimate relationship are significantly positively correlated;(2)Self-disclosure has a significant direct predictive effect on the intimate relationship of college students;(3)Co-rumination plays a moderating role between self-disclosure and intimate relationship;In the interaction of unfamiliar peers,the co-rumination and self-disclosure have significant interactions both on explicit and intimate intimacy;(4)A significant gender difference in self-disclosure and intimacy are found in this study.Women are higher than men;In the interaction of unfamiliar peers,there is asignificant gender difference in the sense of intimacy,acceptance and intimacy of intimate others.Women are higher than men,and there is no gender difference in implicit self-intimacy;There is no gender difference in co-rumination;...
