In today’s society,it’s self-evident that English is of great importance.China has closer relationship with the world.English is the most useful tool for us to communicate with the whole world.Therefore,there is increasing demand for the talents with good English-speaking skills.Improving English integrated accomplishment of college students is the teaching goal of English course in colleges.But under the traditional concept of education,English courses are still using the teaching mode that teachers teach knowledge and students accept passively,although students can master the relevant knowledge,the integrated use of language and the innovation ability is not satisfying.In order to improve the teaching quality,in recent years,the teaching mode(project-based learning)is highly admired,which conforms to the basic education reform,value the cooperation between students,encourage students’ independent inquiry in the actual cases,and can enhance students’ability of knowledge acquisition,digestion,interdisciplinary problem solving,communication and cooperation.This research explores the application of project-based learning to oral English courses,in the aspect of theory and practice.In theory research the connotation and characteristics of project-based learning has been analyzed,the theoretical basis of project-based learning has been established and the teaching process is designed;in practice research,the author combines the needs of English teaching and students’ learning,apply project-based learning to oral English course of high-speed railway services.Through a series of questionnaire and multiple evaluation,with statistics and analysis of the results,PBL teaching effects in practical application has been achieved,conclusions of this research are as follows:1.Applying project-based learning to oral English courses can enhance integrated language accomplishment of college students,which is showed that students get information from passive recipients to active collectors,improve learning enthusiasm and the fluency,accuracy of language.2.Applying project-based learning to oral English courses can improve students’ability to cooperate,which is showed in improving the cooperative learning attitude,participating actively in group activities,communicating more with team members and changing the role of students in learning.3.Applying project-based learning to oral English courses can enhance student’s comprehensive ability,which is showed in ability of data collection,thinking ability,personnel coordination and communication ability.
