With the continuous increase of the number of people learning Chinese in Australia,Confucius institutes,as the only official Chinese learning institution in Australia,have attracted great attention and played a great role in promoting Chinese language and Chinese culture.This article is based on the current situation of the development of Australian Confucius institute in recent years and the current Australian language development policy as the background,and according to the NSW Department of Education and Confucius Institute in Australia as the research center,where the author teaches.The differences between several Confucius institutes in NSW in terms of faculty,development mode and curriculum setting are compared horizontally.As the first Confucius institute in the world that is directly managed by the state education authority,we hope to learm about its case of opening a new mode of Chinese education and provide beneficial reference for relevant institutions around the world.The author introduces the development and management of Confiucins institutes and the situation of Chinese teaching in detail.Combined with the record of Chinese teaching in Confucius classrooms,the author further summarizes the characteristics of Confixcius institutes in Chinese teaching methods,such as flexible and diverse teaching methods,rich and colorful teaching resoiurces,the combination of culture and teaching,as well as the characteristics of focusing on differentiated teaching,cross-cultural understanding ability and cooperative teaching mode in teaching philosophy.The flexible teaching methods and open teaching idea of domestic teaching Chinese as a foreign language is very significance.By presenting and analyzing the questionnaire results of Chinese learners and Chinese teachers in Confucius institute,this paper analyzes the factors affecting students' Chinese learning and the challenges and problems encountered by Chinese teachers,and puts forward Suggestions and assumptions on the existing problems in terms of Chinese teacher development,teaching resource utilization and cultural activity development.By presenting and analyzing the questionnaires results of Chinese learmers and Chinese teachers in Confucius institute,this paper analyzes the factors affecting students,Chinese learning and the challenges and problems encountered by Chinese teachers,and puts forward Suggestions and assumptions on the existing problems in terms of Chinese teacher development,teaching resource utilization and cultural activity development.
