With the advancement of "Made in China 2025",China's automobile industry is booming.In the process of exploring overseas markets,domestic automakers are aware of the importance of English websites.However,the English websites of most domestic automobile companies are not satisfactory.Spelling mistakes,grammatical mistakes,unidiomatic expressions and outdated information frequently exist.For delivering accurate messages to potential customers,domestic automakers should pay attention to the quality of their English websites.By studying the existing English website of Zotye Auto,the author finds out some problems on the website and translates the company profile,company culture,news and product descriptions(totally 10,052 Chinese characters).After analyzing the features of the source text,the author points out the major issues and difficulties in terms of terms,publicity slogans,long and complex sentences and the text structure.Under the guidance of Skopos Theory,the following solutions are put forward:using web search engines,online dictionaries and parallel texts to deal with terms;adopting free translation and converting part of speech for slogans;splitting sentences and adjusting word order to deal with long and complex sentences;omitting unnecessary information,adding subtitles and shifting the perspective of person for the text restructuring.The author hopes that this project report can help improve the English website of Zotye Auto and provide references for the Chinese-English translation of texts on companies' websites.
