Along with the development of auto industry, automobile consumption is increasing gradually. As unlimited business opportunities, more and more famous motor corporations in the world are focusing on Chinese market. At the same time, the number of Chinese automobile companies which orient to the international market is increasing, too. When introducing a company, translation of corporate profiles which owns easy-to-understand language and meets local culture can not only build a good brand image, but also promote sales of cars greatly. Therefore, translation of automobile corporate profiles is getting extremely important.However, there are still many problems in the translation of automobile corporate profiles, such as cultural deviation, neglect of target language reader and so on. All these problems will influence the effect of publicity to a large extent and then bring negative effects to corporate image.Automobile corporate profiles are a kind of practical writing which has a specific commercial purpose. When study its translation, it is very necessary to combine its purpose and the translation theory. This thesis analyzes the automobile corporate profiles under the guidance of Skopos theory which breaks the limitation of equivalence theory, and it emphasizes that the purpose of the translation is the first rule to follow. The theory believes that when translating the automobile corporate profiles, the translator should regard the purpose as guide, and meanwhile use other translation strategies flexibly, and then the translation effect can be attained best. During the translation process, the application of the three rules is the key point for studying the translation of automobile corporate profiles under the guidance of Skopos theory. It is also the important part for this thesis. The specific analysis of three rules is listed in this thesis according to the different characteristics. This thesis also summarizes the application of them. Besides, the similarities and differences of Chinese and English profiles are also talked about, and the cultural differences are the key point. At last, for the translation problems, this thesis also summarized some translation skills for Chinese automobile companies as a reference.
