Abstract/Summary:
Newmark’s communicative translation attempts to produce on target readers an effect that is similar to what original text produces on original readers.It is widely used in the translation of informative and vocative text.ITS China is the only national organization that interacts with the global ITS industry representing China.The texts of ITS China website are informative and vocative so communicative translation theory is adopted in the translation.The practice aims to explore applicability of communicative translation in foreign publicity website.After analyzing the text types and linguistic features of ITS China website,Newmark’s communicative translation is chosen.At lexical level,conversion,paraphrasing and omission are used to conform to target language;at syntactic level,addition and passive voice are used to make text natural and readable.At textual level,proper tense is used and meaningful original structure are adopted to put readers at center,thus realizing effective communication.The translation practice aims to explore and verify the applicability of Newmark’s communicative translation theory to foreign publicity website translation of intelligent transportation and provide some reference for the translation of similar texts.Newmark’s communicative translation theory is scientific and practical,which can provide guidance for foreign publicity translation.
