The Journey to the South,published by Cultural Life Publishing House in 1935,is the representative work of Ai Wu.The eight stories in Journey to the South show us a world full of exotic features,which is surprisingly similar to the primitive natural environment and the tenacious will to survive and the concept of survival of the people living there is shocking.This paper attempts to analyze the characteristics of the foreign space in the collection of novels through the text interpretation of the Journey to the South,and to explore the way of life and the concept of existence of people in the exotic space.This paper consists of three parts.The contents of each part are as follows:The first part is introduction.The current domestic research situation of Ai Wu5s Journey to the South is briefly described and the problems to be solved in this paper is proposed during this part.The second part is main body,which is divided into three chapters to elaborate.The first chapter analyses the specific space skills of novel collection,including wandering mode,diluting time and strengthening space,space narration and characters.The second chapter explores the exotic feature through analyzing the specific spatial image,including three parts:the strange mountains and rivers along the border between Yunnan and Myanmar,the inns in the mountains and the urban towns.The third chapter explores the survival theme of Journey to the South through the analysis of the border space and people between Yunnan and Myanmar,including three parts:living space and survival rule,traditional society and foreign space,living space and good and evil of human nature.The third part is the conclusion.Summarize the full text and point out the author's thinking about the relationship between living space and human nature.
