| The main body of this thesis consists of four parts: the special style of Liu-Heng's novels, the extreme form of explorations about the basic survival desires and it's representation in Liu-Heng's fictional texts, the concrete patterns of it's presentation about the basic survival desires, and the psychological motives of the extreme form of exploration etc.The thesis is discussing the prominent characteristic of Liu-Heng's novels. One thing is the regards of the basic survival desires. Liu-Heng consciously explores the gladness and pain of man brought by these desires. The second is Liu-Heng's fatalism. That is, the manifestation of the tragic spirits in Liu-Heng's novels: survival-enlightenment. He applies the tip of a writing brush approximately naturalism to depict peoples draught by the desires and their fate either strong or calm. What Liu-Heng can do just only guard peoples and yell out together with them when peoples resist their fate with their blood and tears. He try to maintenance the dignity of human beings metaphysically.Many critics concentrate on the exploration of the basic survival desires in Liu-Heng's novels, but most of them is a kind of criticism by impression. Few critics explore the novels systematically and focus on the texts. The thesis carefully discourses upon the texts. Then points out the characteristics of the Liu-Heng's explorations and the deep reason of the explorations. Many critics pay attention to the fatalism in Liu-Heng's novels. We regard it as the immanent reason of the extreme form explorations about the basic survival desires. Only integrate with this two characters can we understand Liu-Heng's novel well. |
