Establishing self-identity for college students during the transition period from adolescence to adulthood plays an important role in social adaptation and personality stability. The intervention research on self-identity lags far behind the theoretical research.Although career planning group counseling intervention on self-identity has received extensive support from empirical research, but the intervention angle is relatively single, and its effect for identity foreclosure is not significant,so it is necessary to develop a new intervention program on self-identity.According to Attachment Theory, the intimate emotional attachment relationship with parents and peers is a safe base for exploring oneself and the outside world, which is very important for self-identity.Studies have confirmed that attachment is an important factor for the self-identity of college students, but no researcher has proved that attachment intervention promotes self-identity.This study is to design a self-identity intervention program based on the attachment theory, and by comparing the effect with the career planning intervention, thus to develop a new intervention program for self-identity.This study bases on test group and control group experimental design.24 subjects by recruitment were randomly assigned to attachment intervention group and career planning group, and each group conducted10 times,120 minutes each of attachment intervention and career planning intervention.Three questionnaires, namely the Extend Objective Measure of Ego Identity Status,Parental and Peer Attachment Questionnaire(IPPA)and College Students’ Career Decision-making Self-efficacy Questionnaire were used before、after and three months after the intervention.Alongside with the feedback of the subjects,to examine the effect of the two kind of intervention on the self-identity of college students. The results showed: in the attachment intervention group, the post-test and tracing test of identity achievement were extremesignificantly higher than that of the pretest(p<0.001),identity diffusion and identity moratorium were very significantly lower than the pretest(p<0.01)and identity foreclosure were significantly lower than the pretest(p<0.05);in the career planning group, the post-test and tracing test of identity achievement were very significantly higher than the pretest(p<0.01),identity diffusion and identity moratorium were significantly lower than the pretest(p<0.01),and identity foreclosure were not significant. The difference of the change between pretest and post-test,pretest and tracing test between the two groups were not significant.Conclusions:(1)Attachment intervention can significantly improve attachment and self-identity status of college students.(2)Career planning intervention can significantly improve career decision-making self-efficacy and self-identity status of college students.(3)Attachment intervention shares the same effect with career planning intervention and can be popularized as a new method for self-identity intervention.
