| At present,visual culture has become a significant factor that exerts great influence on the reading habit of the public.Comic has an important influence on the spread of Chinese culture because it conforms to the features of cultural communication in the new era.And the translation of domestic comics is a good way to advertise China's excellent culture.Therefore,comic translation boasts a broad market.Under such circumstances,Transn IOL Technology Co.,Ltd.was commissioned by Tencent Comic to translate a series of comics on its official website into English,with the European and American readers interested in comics as the main target to launch products for markets in the Occident.When working as a part-time translator for Transn IOL Technology Co.,Ltd.,the author was entrusted by the company to accept the task to translate chapter 31-60 of the comic Fairies Cultivation Manual.The author finally completed this translation project and had a personal experience of the expertise of the translation industry by following the overall translation workflow of the company.The report on translation project of the comic Fairies Cultivation Manual introduces and summarizes the implementation process of the translation project,including project background,pre-translation analysis,translation process,case analysis and post-translation summary.The author first analyzes the comic's style,character features and source text,then decides comic translation strategies and translates the source text under the guidance of Relevance Theory.The author tries her best to maintain the humorous style of the source text in the translation,and carries out cross-checks on the expression of her translation,and conveys the idiomatic English expression,to ensure the language of translation text conforms to codes of target language.Typical translation cases are selected and analyzed lexically,syntactically and textually.The author hopes that this report can provide some references for the future translation of comics. |
