In recent years,with the steady and rapid development of the social economy,working hours and work demands are also rapidly increasing,and people's recovery after work is facing greater challenges.In this context,more and more management and psychology researchers are beginning to pay attention to the positive role of energy management strategies at work.Energy Management Strategies(EMSs)are activities that employees actively participate in to help maintain high energy levels throughout the working day,including micro-break and work-related strategies.Previous studies have verified that both energy management strategies can positively affect employee performance and professional well-being.However,there are significant differences in the activity content between the two energy management strategies.Work-related strategies mainly refer to work-related activities,and micro-break mainly refers to non-work activities.What kind of mechanism behind the seemingly opposite strategies seems worthy of further exploration.In addition,how organizations can help employees maintain high energy levels and better work is a concern for managers.Based on this,the research tries to expand the related research of energy management strategies.Through the analysis of two energy management strategies,the research starts from the autonomy of energy management strategies,based on self--regulation theory and self-depletion theory,it will be an important self-regulation resource in the process of self-regulation.Resources act as an intermediary to explore its mediating role in the positive impact of energy management strategies on job inputs.At the same time,in order to organize better intervention,the authoritative leadership style was selected as a cross-layer adjustment variable to test its impact on the relationship between energy management strategy and work performance.In view of the characteristics of energy management strategy using volatility at the daily level,the study adopted the daily survey and collected data of 124 employees from enterprises and institutions,and the data of two time point before and after work in the afternoon for five working days,a total of 604.The result shows that both energy management strategies can positively influence work engagement;self-regulating resources play a mediate role in the work-related strategies that positively affect the work engagement;empowerment leadership strengthen work-related strategies through self-regulating resources to improve the work engagement.For the first time,the study measured two energy management strategies in China and found its positive effect on work engagement.It also explored the mechanism behind the two energy strategies,verified the mechanism of work-related strategies,and played a role in micro-break.The study then extended the energy management strategy to the organizational level,confirming the moderate role of the empowerment leadership at the organizational level.The final study is the corresponding management inspiration for managers and employees.
