Since oil painting was introduced into China,it has gradually become one of the main forms of expression of Chinese painting through learning, reference and integration. However, with the development of science and technology and the evolution of The Times, the forms of expression of art also tend to be diversified, and various emerging art forms emerge at the historic moment. At the beginning of the 20 th century,French artist Marcel Duchamp put ready-made urinals into art exhibitions, and ready-made art(later called installation art)began to develop into one of the art forms in today's world art field. In the late1980 s,installation art entered China, and artists began to experiment with installation art one after another.Traditional oil painting is also impacted by various emerging art forms, and the universality of art language and the development of contemporary art all prompt oil painting to make changes to adapt to this universality. Some artists who had previously used traditional oil painting and sculpture as the medium began to seek the integration of the two. This paper is divided into three parts. The first chapter briefly describes the characteristics of the forms of easel painting and installation art to understand their advantages and provide a theoretical basis for the combination of the two forms. The second chapter mainly describes the author's experience of the two installation works in the mid-term exhibition, and then triggers the reflection on the combination of installation art and traditional oil painting form, laying a foundation for the creation of graduation works.Through the analysis of the artist Shi Chong's creative ideas, combined with their own creation,in-depth analysis of installation art form and traditional oil painting combined with the new form. The third chapter, combined with the author's creative practice, expounds how to integrate the two art forms in the graduation works,so as to conclude how to make use of the unique advantages and characteristics of installation art and traditional oil painting forms to make them more possible in the contemporary context.
