Zhangcao belongs to the Cao genre, which was developing along with the development of the traditional standard Chinese calligraphy.Zhangcao sprouted in the Qin and Han Dynasties and blossomed in the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Wei-Jin Dynasties.A large number of classic works of Zhangcao passed down since then. With the emergence and development of the new type of "Gaoxing" by Xizhi Wang and Xianzhi Wang,Zhangcao gradually retreated to the disadvantages, and became even less popular during the Tang and Song Dynasties. It was not until the Yuan Dynasty, under the influence of the retro trend, that Zhangcao was revived. The formation and development of Zhangcao style is not a singular independent evolution, but evolved and developed in the constant collision of Zhuan,Li,Kai and Jin Cao,absorbing the characteristics of them, and formed its unique style. This paper aims at examining the different styles of characteristics of Zhangcao from the perspective of implication, taking into consideration the causes that Zhangcao was influenced by other calligraphy genres in different eras in terms of technique, structure and writing habits,on the basis of relevant historical materials to analyze and sort out the artistic characteristics of Zhangcao formed under the influence of other calligraphy genres, and put forward my own views on the historical and aesthetic meanings of Zhangcao.
