Narrative Art Research In Children's Picture Book

Unlike any other form of language art or visual art,picture book is a narrative art that combines picture and text.The special reading group of the picture book?the child,defines the text of the picture book,and mainly conveys the information by the picture to tell a complete story.David Wiesner discusses why picture books are important in the preface to<Why Picture Books Are Important>."Of course?partly because they are books,but the most important reason is included in the name of the picture book-Picture.Before reading the text,the children read the pictures." The narrative of pictures in picture books is a very important and very worthwhile subject.However?there is not much systematic theoretical research on the narrative of picture books.Stephen Roxburgh said in "A Picture Equals How Many Words?:Narrative Theory and Picture Books for Children":"narrative is the most important component of children's literature,not only in novels,but also in contemporary picture books.The same is true.But sadly,the critical theory that distinguishes the narrative function of the illustration from the narrative component of the text is extremely rare.As an adult reader of children's literature,if we want to understand the semantic structure of the picture book,we must do this.Expand the research." The pictures used for narratives are different from the works of art exhibited in the museum.The pictures are not the same as the pictures in the illustrations and picture books.The pictures in the picture books focus on narrative,and the integrity and artistry of the single page are no longer the focus of the picture.The author will mainly study the semantic structure of the pictures in the picture book,compare the narrative methods of other visual arts,explore more narrative language of the picture book?and discuss more possibilities of the picture narrative in the picture book.The domestic "picture book fever" continues to be popular,but under the economic benefits,the publishing house has introduced a large number of excellent foreign picture books.And more and more scholars have studied Western painting skills,but they still cannot integrate their own cultures well,resulting in the quality of domestic picture books is lacking and the innovation is insufficient.In such situation of domestic picture books,the innovation of this research is mainly manifested in two aspects.First of all,in the theoretical aspect,by combing,sumlarizing,drawing on the narrative methods of other visual art and the principles of narratology,it is intended to make a systematic discussion of the narrative of picture books.Secondly,in terms of application,through exploring the more possibilities of drawing narratives of picture books,in order to guide the creation of high-quality picture books that integrate national culture,and hope to have certain guiding significance for the dissemination and development of picture books.
