The Evaluation Of Rajiv Gandhi's Merits And Demerits During His Political Period

Regarding the research of Rajiv Gandhi,there are some biographies and researches in India,mainly from a positive perspective.There are also studies by foreign scholars,mainly by American scholars.The purpose of this study is to analyze the policies and achievements of Rajiv Gandhi in the period of ruling(1984-1989)based on the collected relevant literature,and to make an overall evaluation of Rajiv Gandhi.This paper studies the policies of Rajiv Gandhi during his reign,mainly in the political,economic,diplomatic and social-cultural aspects.The researche of Indian party is a hot spot in the field of Indian studies.There are also a large number of studies on the management of India by the Nehru family.There are also abundant research achievements on Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi,however,relatively little on Rajiv Gandhi.This is the main reason for me to choose the topic.Rajiv Gandhi is the grandson of Jawaharlal Nehru,the third prime minister of the Nehru family and the eighth prime minister of the post-independence government of India.Rajiv Gandhi was born in August 1944 and declared to take part in political active on October 2,1980.His ruling over India for a short period of time,only five years,from 30 October 1984 to November 1989.And he was killed on 21 May 1991.In the early days of his ruling,Rajiv Gandhi stabilized the dangerous situation that broke out in the country due to the murder of Indira Gandhi.During the period of his reign,the relationship between the central and states was improved,local religious conflicts were slowed down,and the economy was actively developed,with particular emphasis on the development of computer software.Rajiv Gandhi contributed to the title of today's Indian software power.And Rajiv Gandhi laid the foundation for the following Prime Minister Rao radical economic reform.
