In this article, we discuss the India and America relationship during the Nehru and his daughter Indira . Gandhi's reign in India, trying to posting the delicacy and complicacy in the Cold War. Nehru and Indira's rule in India almost prong the whole Cold War. In that time, the U.S.-Indo relation not only has happy times such as during the Sino-Indo War, but also has the cold and difficult periods, like in the Bengal Crisis. The two countries have different opinion on so many international problems, but also have coherence on political system and economy benefit. Both of them determine the relation between the two countries that is "a pair of unfriendly friends".This article divides into Nehru and Indira's reign time two big parts to discuss the US-indo relation. In every part, it tries discussing the problems in Indian and American foreign policy, and deeply analyzing them in the important events that can effect the US-Indo relation. At the last, it draws the conclusion in five facets, they are the uncertainty of American South Asia policy, the Indian nonalignment policy, the background of the Cold War, the coherency and contradiction of the two countries system and profit, and the personal factor.
