The Relationship Between The Division Of Glosseme And Grammatical Function In The Study Of Lexical Meaning Changes

With psychological verbs of happiness as example,the thesis is about the relationship between the divi.sion of glossemes and grammatical function in the study of lexical meaning changes.Compiling a dictionary is a collaboration of experts.So there is often a lack of uniform standards for dividing glo'ssemes.This would result in the granularity of glosseme is not the same,or even the absence of glosseme.In terms of the way of explanation,the dictionary sometimes adopts the method of words to explain words.The advantage of this method is that it is easy to understand,but the disadvantage is that it cannot reveal the meaning of words.In our opinion,there are different purposes and standards for the division of glossemes in different fields.The division of applied glosseme and research glosseme have different environments and purposes,but the division of glossemes in previous lexical studies was often based on use of dictionary glossemey which leads to series of problems.such as the inconsistency of corpus into corresponding glossemes.We took psychological verb of happiness as an example to divide the glossemes with unified standard and logical structure,and took the diachronic corpus of the target word as the material to prove that this division of glosseme was feasible in the study of lexical development history.In this process,we found that the determination of glosseme has good correlation with grammatical function.After observing the specific correspondence between the glossemes of the target word and the grammatical functions it undertakes,the thesis puts forward the viewpoint that the grammatical functions could assist in dividing glossemes.The thesis is mainly composed of four parts.In the first part,we compare the theoretical differences between applied glossemes and research glossemes,and then further describe the problems of the glosseme's division,interpretation and grammatical function judgment in the research of word meaning,on this basis,we propose the criteria for the division of glossemes.In the second part,we select three representative psychological verbs of happiness,"le","xi"and"yue",in terms of glosseme's division and interpretation.This paper analyzed the irrationality of the former glossemes,and on the basis of the the criteria for the division of glossemes proposed in the previous part,reconstructs the glossemes,and connects the extended context between the glossemes.In this process,we found that the determination of glosseme has good correlation with grammatical function.Therefore,we decided to analyze the grammatical function of the target words corpus in the next part to observe the specific correspondence between each glosseme and the grammatical function it undertakes.The third part,we take the time as the outline,teasing out the target words diachronic development situation.We have collected,sorted out and labeled 3,160 examples of 19 literatures in the three periods of ancient,mediaeval and modem times,involving in 17 glossemes of 3 target words,to prove that the glossemes divided in this way can be better applied to the study of lexical development history.In this process,we also mark the grammatical function of the target words,cutting it down to the minimum structure of the target words,and observe the specific correspondence between each glosseme and its grammatical function.In the last part,we put forward the viewpoint that the grammatical functions could assist in dividing glossemes,and the grammatical functions could verify reasonability of glossemes.
