| As an international language,English is becoming more and more important.Reading is an important part of learning English and an essential part. However, many students have dyslexia, which makes reading a difficult point in junior middle school English teaching. The thesis starts from Krashen’s input hypothesis and carries out reading teaching under the guidance of the four principles of input hypothesis to improve students’ ability in reading. The aim is to solve the following two problems:Question 1: Does the application of input hypothesis arouse students’ interest in English reading in middle school?Question 2: To what extent can the application of input hypothesis to reading improve students’ reading scores? In order to answer the above questions, this paper conducted a semester teaching experiment for two classes of students in the eighth grade of Haicheng No.7 Middle School in Liaoning Province. The total number of experimental people was 80.Among them,One class was served as experimental class and Five class was served as control class. Before the experiment, the author conducted a questionnaire survey and an English reading test in two classes to make sure that the reading level of the students in both classes was the same.During the experiment, the control class adopted traditional teaching method. The experimental class was taught under the guidance of the four principles of Krashen’s input hypothesis. After the experiment, the author conducted a questionnaire survey and an English reading test in two classes at the second time. Finally,in order to make up for the lack of questionnaires and tests and to obtain more detailed experimental results, the author selected 12 students in the experimental class for interviews. The results show that the students in the experimental class are more interested in reading and better understanding of reading material than the control one.Simultaneously,in the reading test, the average score of the experimental class is higher than that of the control class. This shows that reading teaching which is based on Krashen’s input hypothesis helps to stimulate students’ reading interests and to improve students’ reading level. This provides reference for future reading teaching. |
