The Research Of National Buddhism In The Stage Of Japanese Laws And Decrees

Decreeing National Buddhism means under the control of the decreeing state system,the government controls and administrates the monks and monasteries by monk officials system and the decrees against monks and nuns’ religious Life.In order to protect the state,the decreeing state will gradually make the Buddhism the state religion and develop the power of Buddha and protect the monks and nuns.The orders also require the monks and nuns to refine and discipline themselves,follow the mitzvah and try to pray.In order to protect the state by the power of Buddha,the successive emperors all depends on the protection of Buddha.Depending on the Buddhism,the decreeing states control the power of becoming a monk and nun.They also control the monks and nuns by the monk officials system and the decrees against monks and nuns and by Jibushō-genbaryō-sōkakou(local government)-sankou-monk and nun.The government executes the folk missionary activities seriously which take Monk gyougi as the representative.Some monks and nuns can be exempted from taxation and concentrated on prays for “The prosperity of the country”.Some monks can get the official positions just like the earthly officers and even can participate in national affairs.Compared with other historical periods and from the middle of seventh century to the tenth century,the states Buddhism including Pre-safe period in Nara,especially Nara generation,the relationship between the government and the Buddhism is really closely and have remarkable features.During the whole Nara,the Buddhism is the center of the politics and is in the state of unification of the state and the church.Against this background,the Buddhism as a foreign religion combines with the power of the states,and becomes the state Buddhism.Decreeing National Buddhism are closely related to the establishment of the decreeing systems.After the tenth century with the appearing of the Inward landlord and the farm,decreeing systems gradually break up and just left a name.The decreeing systems which once take the emperor as the center break up and dies down,and the Buddhism combines with the civilian more and more closely.This paper will be divided into three parts: introduction,text and conclusion.The first part is the first chapter introduction,mainly introduces the significance of the title,the research status all over the world,research methods and writing ideas.The second part is the main body of this paper,including the second,third,fourth and fifth chapters.The second chapter is the origin and formation of the decreeing national buddhism;The third chapter will carry on the whole research to the temple and the monks and nuns under the decreeing national Buddhism.The fourth chapter will study the national sacrifice centering on buddhist activities;The fifth chapter is the extinction of the decreeing national buddhism.This paper attempts to conduct an overall study on the conditions,process,contents and final extinction of the decreeing national buddhism.
