Edward Vuillard is known as a master of color.He has made great achievements in painting color all his life.The author takes Vuillard ’s oil paintings from 1890 to 1900 as the main research object,and analyses the color style characteristics and influencing factors of Vuillard ’s oil paintings from 1890 to 1900,as well as the formal language of color.During this period,the color style of Vuillard ’s oil paintings had the characteristics of subjectivity,planarity and decoration.The formation of color style was influenced by three external factors: symbolism,Japanese Ukiyo printmaking and Nabis decoration concept.In terms of color formal language,the author mainly studies the relationship of color composition,the expression language and techniques of color,and the formal aesthetic law of color.The HSB color pattern of three elements of color is used to classify and summarize the four distinct characteristics of color composition in Ville’s works from 1890 to 1900: neighboring color relationship,contrast color relationship,dark tone relationship and gray.Grey tone relationship.Finally,the author draws lessons from Vuillard ’s color and applies them to his own painting practice. |
