| The twentieth century is an extremely important period during the history of Chinese art.During this period,western paintings continued to flow in,while Chinese paintings developed slowly with inheritance and innovation.Barring Xu Beihong and Lin Fengmian,the two masters that refined and innovated Chinese painting,most of the contemporary Chinese painters were forgotten in the long history for various reasons.Hu Xianya is one of them.This article centers on Hu Xianya’s paintings and interprets his style in the form of a case study,in order to better understand the artistic phenomenon of this period.As one of the most famous Chinese painters in modern Jiangxi,Hu Xianya has also made great achievements in the field of art education.This thesis uses methods such as comparative analysis,interviews,general induction,and is divided into three chapters: Xianya’s teacher and self-contained artistic style,Hu Xianya’s painting stages and characteristics,Hu Xianya’s art education practice and educational achievements,and inspirations for the development of contemporary art from his work and art education.In the 20 th century,with the influx of western culture,Hu Xianya did not blindly follow but kept calm and objective thinking,insisted on inheriting the tradition and actively performed artistic innovation.He used modern ideas and aesthetic tastes to rediscover and reinterpret traditional art,which is also what we need to think about and work hard for.Through the in-depth study of Hu Xianya’s case,this thesis sorts out the individual’s life trajectory and artistic development.Constantly exploring in the tradition,learning from the reference,can also provide a reference value for many contemporary art learners. |
