| Chen Xinghua was born in 1924 in Qingxu County,Shanxi Province.He is a famous contemporary artist and art educator.In 1937,at the age of 13,Chen Xinghua joined the Eighth Route Army.In 1950,he was transferred to Northeast Pictorial,where he worked as an art editor and reporter under the direct leadership of the Propaganda Department of the Northeast Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.From 1951 to 1958,he worked as a creator at People’s Fine Arts Publishing House,mainly engaged in art creation.In 1959,he was transferred to the Art Creation Room of Chen Boxi at the Mass Art Museum of Gansu Provincial Bureau of Culture.In1960,he successively taught at the Fine Arts Department of Lanzhou Art Institute and the Fine Arts Department of Northwest Normal University.He was once the director and professor of the Fine Arts Department of Northwest Normal University.Chen Xinghua once studied under the Soviet expert Maximov and followed him to learn the modeling method of oil painting,which laid the foundation for his later artistic achievements in oil painting.His firm and persistent pursuit of artistic ideals and continuous improvement are the reasons for his success,driven by his intrinsic motivation for artistic achievement.Chen Xinghua’s painting language is extremely rich,and the themes and expressive techniques in his works show the characteristics of the Northwest region.Chen Xinghua’s oil paintings can be mainly divided into three types of themes: war and life character theme oil paintings,silk road landscape theme oil paintings,and Chinese civilization history theme oil paintings.In the oil paintings of war and life characters,there are three main characteristics: the reproduction of real images,the shaping of delicate brushstrokes,and the vivid portrayal of characters;Various color expressions and elegant and dignified artistic conception present the boundless and majestic unique regional characteristics of the natural features along the Silk Road;in the oil paintings of Chinese civilization and history,cave murals and statues are also reproduced in oil paintings.The creation conveys the beauty of quiet and vivid shapes,the beauty of bright and thick colors and the beauty of strong and resolute brushwork.At the same time,Chen Xinghua also created works representing the War of Resistance Against Japan,the War of Resisting US Aggression and Aiding Korea,the War of Liberation,and other categories of production and life.He also involved comic strips,posters,sketches,quickly sketches,reliefs,murals and other art categories and achieved very high attainments.Chen Xinghua has made many contributions to art education.In the practice of art education,he devoted himself to teaching students knowledge,and focused on cultivating students’ good painting habits,providing teacher guarantee for the development of the art major;in the practice of art management,he has been working hard for the future and development of the art department,improved the hardware facilities of the Department of Fine Arts,integrated the faculty,made outstanding contributions to the restoration and rapid and healthy development of the fine arts major of Gansu Normal University,and played a strong role in promoting the high-level development of fine arts in Gansu Province.This article mainly studies Chen Xinghua from five parts.The first part sorts out Chen Xinghua’s artistic life according to Chen Xinghua’s works in different periods and his artistic growth experience;The analysis of the formal language characteristics of Chen Xinghua explores the style characteristics of his oil paintings;the third part is to analyze and explore Chen Xinghua’s other art works except oil paintings;the fourth part analyzes the reasons for the formation of Chen Xinghua’s artistic style;the fifth part organizes and studies Chen Xinghua’s contribution to art education and the value and influence of art. |
