An Analysis Of The Soldiers Killed In The Nanjing Defense War

Nanjing defense war which is also known as the "battle of Nanjing",took place in 1937.In this war,the Chinese army resisted the Japanese invaders and guarded the capital of China,Nanjing.It played an important role in the Anti-Japanese War in China.However,the previous academic attention to the Nanjing defense war was mainly based on the research of the Nanjing massacre,which was taken as the background of the Nanjing massacre.In recent years,Nanjing defense war began to study as an independent subject.Through reading related documents and literature,starting from the existing research results of the Nanjing defense war,the article puts the casualties of various positions in the Nanjing defense war,the casualties in the retreat process,the fallen soldiers in the Nanjing massacre to textual research and analyzes the total number of soldiers and generals killed in the Nanjing defense war.The article also concludes the controversial issues in previous studies,such as the total number of soldiers killed in the defense war and the list of generals killed and summarize the reasons for the failure of the Nanjing defense war.We found that about 150,000 soldiers fought in the Nanjing defense war,and 100,000 soldiers were killed,including 8 officers at the rank of major general or above,and about 70,000-80,000 soldiers died in the Nanjing massacre.At the same time,from the textual research of dead soldiers,we found that the great disparity of strength between us and the enemy,the unreasonable troop deployment,the chaotic conduct and the unsuitable geographical environment of Nanjing all led to the defeat of Nanjing defense war.
