| The Nanjing Massacre is one of the three internationally recognized tragedies during WWII.The Memorial Hall of the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders is one of the national first-class museums in China.In the Memorial Hall,some symposiums with various international groups would be held.During the internship in the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders,the reporter served as the receptionist for international visitors and thus participated in many interpreting activities.After summarizing the reception experiences,the reporter found that interpreting is of great importance in cultural and historical communication.However,this interpreting program is with characteristics of long-time span,various audience and speakers,differentiated topics,so the reporter also encountered problems in the process of interpreting.This report is based on the analysis of transcripts in the interpreting project.In this report,the reporter made both separate and comparative analysis among four symposiums,and pointed out the deficiencies,namely,inadequate preparation,cultural default,terminology and accent and long sentences.The reporter also gave some practical solutions in order to help solve the issues.The solutions are simulation before interpreting,strengthening capacities to handle change,glossary accumulation concerning WWII and Nanjing Massacre and knowledge about the accent and pronunciation characteristics about the participants. |
