Critical thinking:the basics introduces the basic and necessary terminologies of critical thinking.One of the purposes of translating this book is to introduce some basic principles of critical thinking to readers,which is helpful to cultivate and improve our ability of independent thinking and judgment.Another one is that the translation theories and translation skills learned before by translator will be applied to translation practice.Based on the translation project of Critical Thinking:the basics,the report discusses the difficulties in translation and summarizes strategies in terms of lexicon and syntax.When it comes to the language features,the text is characterized by its professionalism,logicality and long sentences,the thesis discusses some translation methods in terms of lexicon and syntax in combination with specific cases,so as to ensure the authenticity,accuracy and readability of the text and improve the quality of translation.For the translation of professional terms,the translator mainly refers to relevant materials.While translating other words,the translator adopts the method of conversion.The translation methods of long sentences mainly include linear translation,reversion,embedding,division and synthesisThrough the translation practice,the translator not only learns the basic knowledge of critical thinking,but also acquires more about the linguistic features of psychological texts.For domestic scholars engaging in critical thinking research,this translation builds a bridge for them to discuss and exchange academic ideas with western ones.Meantime,the thesis intends to provide reference for similar translation in the process of studying this project.
