As the Initial Period of Calligraphy Hi.story in Yuan Dynasty,the North,ern Calligraphers in the Early Yuan Dynasty,main,ly Han Chinese,were in a specific historical environment,new changes have taken place in the concept of calligraphy,gradually get rid ofthe“Zhan Qiu Qi”which is common in North China.,maintaining the Orthodox Status of Chinese Culture,advocating the Ancient Meaning and Elegance and Correctness,from practice to theory,it sounded the March call of the Yuan Dynasty Calligraphy Restorationism Movement.The basic contents of this paper include the following aspects:First,the background of social and cultural development of Northern Calligraphy in the late Jin and early Yuan Dynasties was sorited out.From the decline of Han culture influenced by the Jin and Yuan wars to the gradual revival of the early Yuan Dynasty,it provided an opportunity for the development and improvement of Northern Calligraphy in the early Yuan Dynasty.Under the influence of the Jin Dynasty Calligraphy,it gradually formed a unique styl'e of calligraphy of the times.Second,the Northern Biography of Neo-Confucianism pllayed a vital role in the development of calligraphy in the early Yuan Dynasty.With the efforts of Zhao Fu,Yao Shu and Xu Heng,Zhu Zi"s Neo-Confucianis.m began to spread widely in the north,which had an important impact on the literary and artistic trend of thought in the Yuan Dynasty,and also on the de:velopment of calligraphy in the Yuan D'ynasty.On the one hand,the emphasis of Neo-Confucianism on primary schools made Yan Ti's regular script a model of the calligraph,y teach,ing regulations of Gvozijian in the early Yuan Dynasty;on the other hand,Neo-Confucianism also promoted the revival of the ancient style of Zhuan and Li.Thirdly,the idea of restoring ancient Chinese calligraphy in the early Yuan Dynasty.In the early Yuan Dynasty,the trend of calligraphy restoration of northern calligraphers was not only reflected in'the creative practice of Yao Shu,Wang Yun and Yang Huan,but also in the pioneers who advocated the restoration of ancient calligraphy in theory,such as Yuan Hao-wen,Hao Jing and Wang Yun,who played a prelude to the restoration of ancient calligraphy in the Yuan Dynasty together with the former.
