Duan's rise in Nanzhao not only bears the historical changes of Nanzhao, but also witnesses the Buddhist cultural exchanges between Nanzhao and its surrounding areas.Duan participated in the establishment and development of Buddhist monarchy thought at the end of Nanzhao.Duan in Dali inherited Buddhist monarchy thought and dominated a corner, which not only formed the monarchy and Buddhist interpretation. The Buddhist enlightenment tradition, including the monastic family system promoted by Confucian imperial examinations, has greatly enriched the connotation of Dali Buddhism in the process of cultural exchanges with the surrounding areas.Although the hereditary governor of Dali in Yuan Dynasty gradually approached the unified dynasty in political status,he still practiced traditional enlightenment in his autonomous region. The Zen thought in the Central Plains culture has gradually penetrated into the western Yunnan where it is located.Duan's regime was overthrown in the early Ming Dynasty.Because of the different political status of Duan's lineage and its members, the ancestral identity based on religious and cultural identity changed.During the Qing Dynasty,Buddhism gradually internalized for Duan.It is very important to study Duan's relationship with Buddhism systematically and dynamically.By studying the relevant documents such as Duan's inscriptions, local chronicles and official history, combining field data such as Xizhou,Shibaoshan Grottoes and Museum in Dali, taking each historical period from Tang,Song to Ming and Qing Dynasties as the bright line, and taking the changes of Duan's political identity and Buddhist cultural identity as the dark line,Duan and Buddhism are studied in three periods.Investigation:the rise of Nanzhao Duan clan and the establishment and development of Nanzhao Buddhist cultural characteristics and monarchy Buddhist teachings;Dali Duan clan's Buddhist enlightenment tradition;the relationship between Duan clan and Buddhism in Yuan,Ming and Qing dynasties, which includes the inheritance of Zen thought in ancestral industry and traditional Buddhism and Central Plains culture under the background of Duan clan's Limited regime in the Yuan Dynasty.Fusion, the corresponding relationship between Duan's lineage and its members in the political status, religious culture and ancestral identity, the relationship between Duan's lineage and Buddhism internalization in the Qing Dynasty, and the development trend of the combination of Guanyin belief and Duan's beneficiary worship in the late Dynasty.Since Nanzhao,Duan's political identity often wavered between Yi and Xia,which led to the complexity and diversity of his Buddhist cultural identity concepts. This study not only pays attention to the relationship between Duan's regime and the Central Plains Dynasty and surrounding areas, but also to the internal contradictions of Duan's regime, and gradually clarifies the relationship between Duan's political identity and Buddhist cultural identity, which also provides a thread for sorting out the formation process of Dali Bai traditional Buddhist cultural system.
