The Effect Of College Students' Celebrity Worship On Romantic Perfectionism:The Mediating Role Of Ego Identity

Under the background of the rapid development of entertainment market,celebrity worship is very common among college students.And college students need to fulfil the two important tasks of forming ego identity and establishing intimate relationship at the university stage.Celebrity worship possibly has an impact on them.Therefore,this study intends to explore the status quo and characteristics of college students'celebrity worship,ego identity and romantic perfectionism and their relationship.A questionnaire survey was conducted among 601 college students in the study.The statistical methods of variance analysis and regression analysis were used to analyze the data.And the study found that,(1)The majority of college students belong to communicative group and low-involvement group,followed by empathic group and delusional group.There are significant gender differences in the types of College Students'celebrity worship groups.There are significant gender differences in entertainment-social dimension and emotion-casted dimension of college students' elebrity worship;significant grade differences in entertainment-social dimension and borderline-pathological dimension;and significant major differences in entertainment-social dimension and emotion-casted dimension.(2)The majority of college students belong to the moratorium status,nearly half of them,followed by the diffusion state of identity,while the proportion of those who belong to the identity foreclosure and the achievement status of identity is relatively small.There are significant gender differences in ego identity acquisition and identity foreclosure among college students,and there are significant major differences in identity foreclosure among college students.(3)The degree of romantic perfectionism of college students is generally at a moderate level.There are significant grade differences in loyalty factor and total score of College Students'romantic perfectionism.(4)There is a significant positive correlation between college students'celebrity worship and ego identity.There are significant differences in the status types of ego identity in college students'celebrity worship.There are significant differences in the distribution of ego identity status types among college students different celebrity worship groups.There are significant differences in the types of celebrity worship groups among college students' different ego identity status.Celebrity worship of college students has a certain predictive effect on ego identity.Among them,the entertainment-social dimension of celebrity worship can significantly predict the acquisition of identity positively,entertainment-social dimension and relation fantasy dimension can significantly predict the identity moratorium positively,completely-identity,relation fantasy and borderline-pathological dimension can significantly predict the identity foreclosure positively,entertainment-social dimension can significantly predict the identity foreclosure negatively.The dimension of emotion-casted can significantly predict the diffusion of identity.(5)The dimensions of college students'celebrity worship are positively correlated with the idealization factor,the demanding factor and the total score of romantic perfectionism,while the entertainment-social dimension and the completely-identity dimension of celebrity worship are positively correlated with the loyalty factor of romantic perfectionism.There are significant differences in the idealization factor,the demanding factor and the total score of college students'romantic perfectionism.Celebrity worship can significantly and positively predict romantic perfectionism.Among them,the dimensions of completely-identity and borderline-pathological of celebrity worship can significantly and positively predict romantic perfectionism,the dimensions of completely-identity can significantly and positively predict loyalty factors of romantic perfectionism,entertainment-social and borderline-pathological can significantly and positively predict idealization factors.And emotion-casted,completely-identity and borderline-pathological can significantly and positively predict the demanding factors.Entertainment-social interaction can significantly negatively predict the demanding factors.(6)The state subscales of College Students'ego identity are positively correlated with loyalty factor,idealization factor and total score of romantic perfectionism,and the moratorium,early closing and diffusion of ego identity are positively correlated with the demanding factor of romantic perfectionism.College students'romantic perfectionism has significant difference in the state types of ego identity.College students'ego identity has certain predictive effect on romantic perfectionism.Among them,premature closure of ego identity can significantly and positively predict the total score of romantic perfectionism,acquisition of identity and premature closure of identity can significantly and positively predict the loyalty factor of romantic perfectionism,identity moratorium and premature closure of identity can significantly and positively predict the idealization factor,premature closure of identity can significantly and positively predict the demanding factor of romantic perfectionism.(7)The early closure of college students'ego identity plays a mediating role in the influence of celebrity worship on romantic perfectionism,and other complementary mediators may be omitted.
