The research on demotivation started late, with few contents and incomplete research objects. In order to find out the internal factors affecting demotivation of the English learners of grade eight, analyze the incentives, help learners understand the value of English, overcome the difficulties in English learning, restore the motivation of English learning, and provide teachers with valuable teaching suggestions, this paper will study demotivation of the students of grade eight in English learning. There are three specific research questions:(1)Are there any differences in demotivation among junior high school students of different grades?(2)What is the relationship between the internal factors affecting demotivation of the eighth grade students in English learning?(3)Are there any differences in the internal factors affecting demotivation among eighth graders of different genders? The questionnaire used in this study was adapted from the Sakai&Kikuchi' s(2009)questionnaire.It was measured by Likert scale. The reliability of the questionnaire was tested. The author used descriptive analysis, independent sample T test and correlation analysis in SPSS17.0.At the same time, the interviews of individual learners who were randomly selected after the questionnaire and teachers from three diffrient grades were also analyzed to solve the three research questions. The results show that there are differences in the overall situation of demotivation in different grades.Although demotivation increases with the increasing of grades, the eighth grade is very important as a transition. There are four main internal factors affecting demotivation in English learning of grade eight:lack of self-confidence,lack of learning methods, lack of interest and improper attitude towards learning English.Among these four factors, the stdents' demotivation of grade grade is most affected by the lack of self-confidence of the learners themselves, followed by the lack of learning methods and interests, and the improper attitude towards English learning is the smallest factor. There is no significant gender difference in the internal factors affecting demotivation in English learning of grade eight. The author analyses the reasons and finds that students'too many tasks, teachers'monotonous teaching methods, students'poor command of language points, and students' too much pressure are all the reasons leading to demotivation. Therefore, the author points out that teachers should pay the same attention to boys and girls, pay attention to students' ideas, timely understand students' inner dynamics through observation, and communicate with parents;teach in a variety of forms, not rigid to habits, try to use courseware or multimedia and other visual aids, more classroom dialogue activities;do not overemphasize learning achievements to help students develop.Good study habits, help students to find their own learning methods, lay a good foundation for promotion to senior grade and other suggestions. However, this investigation on the internal factors affecting demotivation in English learning of grade eight is only an exploratory example. In the future study, learners from different grades and schools should be considered as the research objects to make the results more representative and convincing.More scientific and authoritative research tools should be used and more qualitative methods should be adopted to ensure the scientific nature of research,so that demotivation research can become another meaningful research topic.
