Motivation is considered as an important factor influencing English learning, and students with strong motivation are more likely to achieve success. Therefore, more and more scholars have done research in this area, which can help us explore some strategies to motivate students in English learning. Meanwhile, for the non-English major, it is necessary to do research on the relationship between the motivation and the English learning situation.Although considerable research have been done on the motivation, the demotivation problem has been left untouched, especially for the non-English major. So it is important to investigate and find the factors that decrease the motivation in English learning. In order to have a better view of the non-English majors'learning situation, the experiment is made to find the factors which lead to the English learning demotivation, and then take some measures to solve it. Thus, some of the students and teachers are required to answer questionnaires and do some interview. According to their answers, the statistics are computerized and analyzed with the software SPSS 13.0. The factors that affect the non-English majors can be clearly shown by applying methods of descriptive statistics analysis, Pearson correlation analysis and frequency analysis. The results of survey shows that there are some factors influencing the demotivation problem, including the teacher, the student, the material, the classmates, the attitude towards the foreign languange and the personal development. With the Pearson Correlation Analysis, the author finds that among the six factors, the teacher, the student and the material mainly play the role in English learning. Therefore, the author does the further research on the sub-factors of these three factors by using the Pearson correlation analysis, from which in addition to the teacher's methods and competence, the student's confidence, efforts and study plan or goal as well as the teaching material content show close correlation with the demotivation problem in English learning.Based on the result of survey, the thesis provides some useful implications for teachers, learners and researchers. The teachers should improve their teaching ability and think more about the flexibility of the methods applied in class; the students should develop their self-confidence and set up the proper goals to make efforts; finally, the interesting and real material should be offered to students, therefore, the favorable learning environment can be created for the non-English majors in the course of English learning.
