The Song Dynasty carried out the policy of recruiting and supporting soldiers in an all-round way.The government provided the barracks for centralized resettlement,and needed many barracks.The government established relatively perfect construction and money-supporting institutions from the central to local levels.Restricted by many internal and external factors,the problems of insufficient barracks and broken barracks were prominent,which brought many negative impacts on the social and military construction of the Song Dynasty and restricted the exertion of the combat effectiveness of the army.For this reason,the government has taken many measures to alleviate the difficulties of barracks security from the perspectives of time limitation,official inspection and maintenance,material replacement,temporary resettlement and so on.At the same time,the emergence of air and abandoned military camps,under the leadership of the government,has been once again exploited and utilized.As for the problem of military barracks,the Song Dynasty encountered many new situations that the previous generations had never met,and made some innovations at some levels,which had profound lessons for the construction of barracks in later generations.The study of the army barracks in the Song Dynasty will help us to understand the social development and military construction of the Song Dynasty from one side.It not only reflects the outstanding problems of the economic development of the Song Dynasty and the contradictions between people and land;Let us also see the Song Dynasty military spirit dispersed and the weak fighting force of the army another cause.This article is divided into four chapters: the first chapter from the macro perspective,from the spatial location of the location and layout of the barracks to make an analysis and combing,in order to help us understand the military in the camp needs to consider the natural environment,strategic location,social situation;Then,make a brief introduction to the army barracks of the Song Dynasty and explain the government’s emphasis on barracks.The second chapter mainly discusses the demand,construction organization and cost of the army barracks in Song Dynasty.Based on the changes in the number of troops,the general distribution standards of the army barracks in the Song Dynasty were examined,and the approximate demand for barracks in various periods was estimated.On the basis of this,the government has established a relatively complete construction and money support institution from the central government to the local government to ensure the supply of barracks.It also discusses the fact that military barracks spend a huge amount of military expenditure;Finally,it points out the innovation of the Song Dynasty in the military barracks,that is,the combination of the quantity and quality of the barracks construction and the political future of the construction officials themselves.The third chapter mainly studies the predicament and causes of barracks,as well as the adverse effects of barracks on the social and military construction in Song Dynasty.Finally,it combs the diversified policies adopted by the government to alleviate the predicament of barracks.The military barracks in Song Dynasty had many difficulties,such as insufficient security and fragmentation.Of course,there were many reasons for this kind of situation.They were not only troubled by the rapid growth of the barracks themselves,insufficient government construction and simple materials,but also affected by external natural disasters,fires and military disasters.The negative impact of the barracks problem can not be ignored.Soldiers have no room to live in,are separated from the barracks and mingle with the common people and thieves in the secular society,which seriously disturbs social order and increases social instability factors.At the same time,soldiers scatter among the residents,inevitably contaminated with all kinds of bad habits,resulting in the deterioration of the military disciplines and the disintegration of the military mind.In addition,long-term dissociation of the barracks has resulted in the lack of effective military training of soldiers,making the army combat effectiveness.Of course,the lack of barracks will also bring a lot of inconvenience to the lives of soldiers’ family members and disturb the military’s morale to a certain extent.In order to curb or mitigate the negative impact of the barracks problem,the government has taken such measures as time-limited construction,timely maintenance,replacement of barracks materials,temporary placement in monasteries and other places to ensure the supply of Barracks as far as possible.Chapter IV,as a supplement to this article,mainly discusses the reuse of the abandoned and empty battalions of the army in the Song Dynasty.With the development of the social situation,due to the influence of military defense change,military reform and warfare,a large number of empty and abandoned camps have appeared in the army.In the era of population outbreak and commodity economic development,they have been given the opportunity to re-develop and enhance their own value.Under the influence of the government,there are different ways of reclamation of barracks between Beijing Normal University and local governments.In a word,this paper hopes to systematically sort out and study the problems related to military barracks,in order to understand the role of military barracks in the military construction of Song Dynasty and its impact.
