As a kind of film based on the real context, the documentary has established its aesthetic style dominated by real aesthetics in the creative process. But documentaries are also movies, which need to be recorded and transmitted through media such as cameras and screens, and the attributes of these media give the documentary a certain sense of non-authenticity.Performance is the most typical expression of this kind of non-authenticity.Documentary creation often relies on rehearsals or plays, and performance has become an important aid because of the complex social and environmental factors that create documentaries. At the same time, the existence of performance consciousness has also impacted the traditional documentary aesthetics, including the true nature of the documentary, the character shaping of the documentary, and the acceptance of the documentary audience. This article focuses on the performability of the film in the recorded film, from the scenes and reasons of the performance, and the impact and thinking of this kind of consciousness on the aesthetics of traditional documentary, using my own documentary "Tongtong" as an example to discuss the performability consciousness in documentary film.
