Since 1950 s,MT(Machine Translation)systems have indeed made great contributions to human communication. While enjoying the convenience brought by MT,translators are also aware of the defects of MT.Machine cannot accurately translate the cultural background of ST(Source Text)and TT(Target Text),as well as the historical background. Some words with background and cultural meaning may lose their original meaning or even make readers unable to understand after being translated by machine. As a result,post-editors,as the post-editing workers after MT,are becoming more and more popular. The project is a post-editing report based on the version of Political District Dictionary of the People's Republic of China translated by machine. In the process of post-editing,the skopos theory is used as guidelines to revise words and sentences that do not conform to the expression of target language in MT,so that TT is more readable. This practice report is mainly divided into five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction to the project and the purpose and significance of this project. The second chapter is to explain the whole post-editing process. In Chapter Three, the advantages and disadvantages of MT and human translation and the advantages of human-machine cooperation will be listed. The fourth chapter is the case analysis. It will discuss the differences between MT and human post-editing from lexical, syntactic and textual levels, under the guidance of skopos theory. And the last chapter is a conclusion and some expectations.
