Machine Translation(MT)has ushered in a new stage of development thanks to its high efficiency and low cost generated by the surge of the technology of Artificial Intelligence(AI).Due to the cognitive limitations to human brain,language and culture,MT obviously needs to be improved.For instance,MT incapacitates itself for identifying the meaning of words with different pronunciations according to the context.With this regard,the post-editing of MT is recognized absolutely necessary for translators so as to guarantee and perfect its quality.The Communicative Translation Theory(CTT)guides the whole post-editing process of MT of The Political District Dictionary of the People's Republic of China(PRC).Under the guidance of CTT,appropriate translation methods to modify MT have been selected in the post-editing process.This report aims to make a conclusion of the post-editing practice.This paper consists of six chapters.The introduction to the project is exclusively described in chapter one,including the background,the significance of the project,and literature review.Chapter two introduces the theoretical basis.Chapter three aims to prove the necessity of the alliance of MT and post-editing from the perspective of MT and post-editing.The whole post-editing process is described in chapter four.Chapter five emphasizes on the case analyses of the errors collected in MT.And translation methods and skills to correct them under the guidance of CTT are also put forward.Chapter six is a conclusion.
