In the 1980 s,Su Tong became famous in the literary world,and he was famous for the avant-garde pioneer narrative and poetic lyric style in his novels.For more than 30 years since then,Su Tong has always been active in the public's field of vision because of his large amount of works.From the early pioneer narrative to the nearly classical narrative,from new historical novels in 80 s to realistic novels now,from the “ Feng Yang Shu Township ” series which describe the life of countryside to“ Xiang Chun Shu Street ” series which describe the life of city to the “ Hong Fen ”series which describe the life of female,Su Tong's direction and content of create are constantly changing,but what has not changed for a long time is Su Tong's aesthetic pursuit,which is embodied as the creation of imagery in the novels,which makes the novel present an aestheticism artistic style.Some scholars describe Su Tong's novel as “ imagery novel ”,and call Su Tong's unique novel discourse “ imagery writing ”.This paper selects the imagery in Su Tong's novels as the starting point,and try to analyze the expression and artistic value of the imagery narrative,explore Su Tong's novels' thinking on human nature,the spiritual connotation and aesthetic value hidden in the deep text.The first chapter sorts out the main images in Su Tong's novels and summarizes them into four categories : landscape imagery,character imagery,abstract imagery and object imagery,then explains the representative imagery.The second chapter explores the deep connotation of a large number of images in Su Tong's novels,analyzes the realistic writing of both good and evil side of human nature,and three major themes of Su Tong's works : desire and sin,escape and destiny,loneliness and death.The third chapter summarizes the artistic features of the rhetoric and sentimental atmosphere in the novel,as well as the realistic writing of the glooming human nature in Su Tong's novels and the depth of thought embodied in it.
