The Study Of Aesthetic Personality In Chuang-tzu

In modern and contemporary times,the study of personality in Chuang-tzu mainly focuses on the three fields of comparison,effect and theory.Although considerable achievements have been made,there is still enough room for future generations to elucidate.From the perspective of aesthetic personality,with the help of social and historical criticism,hermeneutics and personality psychology,this paper makes a concrete analysis of the foundation,personality types,cultivation methods and enlightenment value of aesthetic personality in Chuang-tzu.The emergence of aesthetic personality has its inherent logical clues.Under the social and historical conditions at that time,the perfection of personal realm could not be realized.The chaotic political environment threatens the individual's survival and security,and the theories put forward by various schools have triggered more disputes.Therefore,Chuang-tzu put forward a philosophical theory consisting of "Qi","Hua" and "Tao" to reconstruct the relationship between man and the universe and nature.This theory is applied to his triple predicament of survival and death,current situation and destiny,emotion and desire set by nature,society and self for life.Based on the above,the foundation of aesthetic personality is constructed.In Chuang-tzu,a large number of characters are depicted.According to the realm of life,it can be divided into ideal people,grotesque people and ordinary people.Among them,the ideal personality stands at the top of the realm of life with its idealized external image and intrinsic characteristics of both fantasy,transcendence and freedom.Grotesque personality is a kind of personality type which covers the distortion of body and speech and behavior.It goes against the secular evaluation criteria in the aesthetic,moral and value levels,and takes the improvement of mind and spiritual realm as a means to remedy physical defects.Ordinary personality dissociates in the gap between ideal and reality,and seeks their own life orientation through continuous learning.They are the type representatives of ideal characters in different realms of life,which together constitute the panorama of aesthetic personality.The shaping of aesthetic personality is not accomplished overnight.It has three practical levels:physical,psychological and spiritual.On the body level,Chuang-tzu requires people to conform to the law of body development,meet their normal physiological needs,not to alienate it into the use of tools,and then realize the normal operation of body functions.On the psychological level,Chuang-tzu demands that we should cultivate an empty mind with tranquility and wisdom to observe the natural situation of things and adhere to the inherent nature of human beings.On the spiritual level,Chuang-tzu proposed two methods of "Zuowang"and "Xinzhai" to realize the absolute freedom of spiritual realm in both internal and external modes.The process of putting forward aesthetic personality is the concrete practice of the philosophy of harmony between man and nature and the re-orientation of personal value.It not only provides a new way for personality cultivation,but also provides a poetic elucidation of the realm of life.It has theoretical guiding value to change the fetishism in today's society,and helps to inspire individuals to re-examine their own view of world,life and value.
