Zhuang Zi is the classical writing of Taoism, with profound thinking of Taoism in it. Su Shi'thinking agrees with Zhuang Zi in many aspects. Through meditation and digestion, Su Shi absorbed plentiful resource of personality spirit and literature theory in the following points: firstly, Su inherited abundant spiritual resource to composing personality, including the sense of tragic which is the beginning and the sense of space-time which is the terminal; secondly, Su assimilated the literature theory in Zhuang Zi, involving"had to do"theory on the origin of literature,"the body and bamboo embodiment"thinking on the methodology of literature creating and the"nature engineering and refreshing"idea on the thought of literature aesthetics. In his literature works and his life practice, Su expressed his comprehension of Zhuang Zi. The pure unity of Su's personality and literature thinking finally leads to an aesthetic world, for which Su gains his reputation in the thousands of years. The thesis is divided into five parts. In the first chapter, the author summarized the influence of Zhuang Zi on Su. Su learned and absorbed much from Zhuang Zi, which was directly presented in his works at three aspects: straight citation of the literary quotations in Zhuang Zi, flexible using of the sentences in Zhuang Zi, applying of the philosophical terms in Zhuang Zi. Thus, the thesis establishes a close association between Su and Zhuang Zi, as a basement of the following discussion. The second chapter focuses on the tragic sense, which is the common beginning of personality construction for Su and Chuang Tzu. Compared with western culture, China has its special tragic sense in the origin and the vanishing way of returning to space-time sense. This chapter analyzes the tragic sense of Zhuang Tzu and Su Shi respectively and reveals the tragic sense as their common element of personality. for Su and Zhuang, which is called the space-time sense. Space-time sense includes two parts: the time sense and the space sense. Through the former, Su and Chuang Tzu dispel the historical tragic sense, and by the latter, they dissolve the space tragic sense. Furthermore, dream and wine as the channel from the tragic sense to space-time sense is discussed. In the fourth chapter, an interpretation of Su's aesthetic personality and his life practice is presented. Su not only absorbed Chuang Tzu's personality ideal as spiritual resource, but also digested it and applied in his life practice. In his life practice, the disappearing of the tragic sense and the realization of the space-time sense were achieved by the persistence and transcendence in the worldly life and the reclusive experience. The thesis discusses about the relationship between personality and literature style of Su and Zhuang Zi. On one hand, it clearly presents Su's personality idea and literature style; on the other hand, it also shows the basic influence of Zhuang Zi on Su. Though the inheritance and development of Zhuang Zi's thought, Su constructed his special personality and literature ideal, achieved a unity between his personality and literature thinking, and finally arrived at an aesthetic world.
