Blood Type And Personality Study Of The Relationship

Researches about the relation between blood-type and personality is one of biological researches for personality. The blood-type theory of personality, from its first being put forward in 1927, has brought important influence both in academic research and in people' s social life. But so far equivocal results continue to beset investigations into the relation between blood-type and personality. When results are significant, there is little consensus as to the personality characteristics of members of any one Dblood type. The purpose of this research is to examine the appropriateness of the blood-type theory of personality, and its significance in people's social life.First, we make a inquiry into the opinion or belief about the blood-type theory of personality, and its result reveal the blood-type theory of personality has significant effects among college students. Then we evaluated the relation between blood-type and personality, using YG Personality Inventory and EPQ. The result shows that: (1) There is correlation between Blood-type and some personality traits, specifically Blood Type A individuals are prone to dumps, more nervous, and be accustomed to thinking introvertedly, Blood Type B individuals have lower aggressiveness, Blood Type AB individuals have great ascendance (YG) ; Blood Type 0 and Blood Type A individuals are more obstinate than Blood Type B individuals, Blood Type AB and Blood Type 0 individuals are characterized by untruth(EPQ). (2) There are correlations between gender and some personality traits, namely females are more emotional, lack of self-confidence, lack of objectivity, and more nervous, males are more prone to deep consideration, and liking activities(YG); males are more obstinate, emotional and agitated, characterized by untruth; females more extroversive and sociable(EPQ). (3) There are interaction effects for gender and blood Type on Depression, Lack of Objectivity, Rhathymia and Ascendance, i.e. Blood Type A males are prone to dumps, Blood Type A females lack of objectivity, Blood Type 0 males are more optimistic, Blood Type 0 females are prone to dumps, lack of objectivity, Blood Type AB males are more optimistic, having great ascendance. (4) There are no relations between blood Type and personality type of YG, there are no relations between blood Type and personality type of EPQ, but there are relations between gender and personality type of EPQ.In a words, there are some correlation between blood type and personality traits, and blood typing can give some help in explaining one's personality; but it is not mean there is a simple correlation between blood type and personality, the result that there are interaction effects for gender and blood Type suggest that we should take gender or other more factors into account when we consider the relation between blood type and personality.
