In recent years, with vigorous development of tourism, outbound tourism market has thrived.More and more Chinese people have travelled abroad to enjoy exotic scenery and experience foreign cultures.New Zealand is among the most popular tourist destinations, featuring the pure natural environment, rich tourism resources and multicultural tradition. As a kind of popular reading material, tourist guide is an "informative"+"operative" text, which has vocative and aesthetic functions. The tourist translation plays an important role in the publicity of scenic spots.Tourist translation should not only transmit tourists the attracting information, but also infect the audience and arouse their desire to travel.Reception aesthetics holds that the text is a multi-level and unfinished "vocative structure",which gives readers enough space to interpret. In the process of reading, readers tend to fill in the blanks of the text with their own"horizon of expectation" or "pre-understanding" in order to realize the materialization of text content. In this sense, the active participation of readers is an important factor in "decoding" the potential meaning of a text.As the first reader of the source text and the author of the translated text, the translator should give full play to the initiative to interpret the original text and satisfy the readers’ reading expectations. The purpose of tourist translation is to promote tourism products, whose translation effect depends on the acceptance of target language readers,so the theory of Reception Aesthetics is of great significance to tourism texts translation.Based on the E-C translation of Eyewitness Travel New Zealand and guided by the Reception Aesthetics theory, this paper summarizes some translation methods and strategies of tourist guides, whose purpose is to explore how to take readers’ response into account as much as possible from the aspects of language, culture, emotion and aesthetics in the process of tourism texts translation,so as to make the target text more appealing and inviting.
