This project is on the translation of Unscaled: How AI and a New Generation of Upstarts Are Creating the Economy of the Future(chapter 8-9).Chapter 8,Consumer Products,focuses on changes of consumer behaviors in the AI era and opportunities facing consumer market.Chapter 9 explains policy makers and enterprises must start to consider some problems;otherwise,disastrous consequences may follow.The underlying theoretical basis for this project is communicative translation theory of Peter Newmark,by which the translator discussed difficulties and solutions during the translating.According to Peter Newmark’s text typology,the source text is classed as informative.Therefore,trying to make readers receive the information with all the ease,the translator put more emphasis on information carried in the source text than on its semantic features and structures.Division and conversion of parts of speech were adopted to translate some of the inanimate subject sentences.As for proper nouns,the translator used transliteration,addition and diction to render them more naturally.This project also includes experience gained in the translation and improvements to be done in the conclusion part.
