With the rapid globalization in recent years,trades and business between countries are increasing and this tendency inevitably brings a great influence on the communication of legal cultures between countries,in which translators play an indispensable role in bridging the gap.In trades and business,trademark law is one of the means to protect the interests of an enterprise.Therefore,it is of great significance to know and translate the trademark laws of other countries for international business.This is a report based on the translation of Trade Marks Act(Chapter 332)of Singapore.As the frequent use of long sentences is one of the most remarkable features of legal text,the translation of long sentences of legal text becomes one of the major difficulties inevitably for translators.The present translation report discusses the translation of long sentences of the source text and four translation techniques the author used with sufficient examples in the translation of long sentences of source text,which are sequential translation,reversion,division and synthesis.This report is an attempt to give inspirations to legal translators in the translation of long sentences of legal text and to enrich the research of translation of long sentences of legal text.
