A Report On E-C Tansediting Of Political News For Huanqiu.com

Nowadays,most mainstream media in the world are English-language media.So the transediting of English-Chinese news is of importance when it comes to the idea that international news should be readily available to Chinese readers.This report is based on the author's work of transediting political news for Huanqiu.com.In August 2017,the author participated in the transediting work in the political and military channel of Huanqiu.com with 48 E-C news stories published by now.In this report,21 news stories are selected as the material of the report to analyze transediting strategies and specific translation methods.This report is based on the above-mentioned transediting activity on the Huanqiu.com,and is divided into five parts: introduction,task description,translation process,case analysis and conclusion.First of all,the introduction part introduces the background information of this translation task;then describes the original text from lexical,syntactic and discourse features,and introduces the specific requirements of the E-C transediting task of Huanqiu's political and military channel.The translation process is divided into pre-translation,m-translation and post-translation.Before the translation,the translator prepare enough for translation work,including seeking translation background,selecting translation tools and the appropriate parallel text,determining the translation theory,translation strategy and translation method,and formulating the glossary.In the translation,the translator borrows parallel text,self-proof proofing and official proofreading from Huanqiu to control translation quality;after translation,descriptions are made from three aspects: self-evaluation,peer evaluation and official evaluation.Case analysis are a core part of this report,and translators classify problems encountered during translation.Guided by the Skopos Theory,namely,skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule,this report seeks to adopt translation strategy—domestication and specific translation methods such as setting another title for target news,omitting unrelated information and adding background information,conversion,voice change,division and word order adjustment,to realize purpose of the political news transediting,that is,to spread information to achieve communication function of original news.In this process,the coherence and cohesion of the original news can also be maintained.Finally,the report indicates that translator needs to have good professionalism,including news background query ability,term translation ability,translation theory application,Chinese and English news writing methods and self-learning ability,so as to improve his or her news techniques to write and translation to translate news that is widely spread,deeply influential,and intimate to meet the reading needs of Chinese people.
