A Practice Report On Translation Variation Of Featured Words And Sentences In The English Translation Of All Around Zhangjiakou(Excerpt)

As a part of Chinese culture,local chronicles have been widely known to the world in recent years.Based on translation variation theory,this report gives an analysis to the application of the translation variation theory in the English translation of featured Chinese words and sentences quoted from the textbook All Around Zhangjiakou.Being a typical informative text,the source text covers the city conditions,history,geography and humanities of Zhangjiakou.Due to the great differences between Chinese and Western languages and cultures,and the large number of featured words and sentences in the text,in the process of the translation,after analysis and induction,the difficulties and problems in the initial stage of translation are concretely defined as follows: the semantic understanding is easy to deviate,the logical relationship is not clear,and the sentence constituents are imbalanced.In the stage of translation revision,with regard to the deviation of semantic understanding,annotation amplification translation variation and semantic interpretation translation variation are adopted as solutions;with regard to the unclear logical relationship,logical addition translation variation and semantic addition translation variation are adopted as solutions;with regard to the imbalanced constituents,constituent adaption translation variation and content compile translation variation are adopted as solutions.The translation case analysis and the conclusion of translation practice show that the theory of translation variation has certain guiding significance and application value for the English translation of featured words and sentences in local chronicles,and the selected strategies of translation variation have certain effect on the English translation of local chronicles.
